The Minivan Soundtrack

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

My boys are now old enough that I can share the enjoyment of listening to music with them. Of course, this most commmonly happens in the car, so I’ve put together the following list of songs that we listen to most often.

Appropriately enough, I’ve called this list “the Minivan Soundtrack”. It’s mostly an up tempo collection of popular songs from movies, television shows, sporting events, and kid’s radio.

I recommend picking 15 to 20 of these and making your own travel CD. Then all you need to do is flash the vehicle dome light to the beat for an instant, mobile dance party with your family! Keep both hands on the wheel, please!! ;)

Let me know some of your family favorites!

Falcons Game Day Tweetgrid – vs Panthers 9.20.09

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

The Falcons are hosting division rivals the Carolina Panthers in the Georgia Dome this week and look to continue their great start to the 2009 season with another victory. If the rival Panthers aren’t enough to get you fired up, the Falcons will be wearing NFL Throwback jerseys that honor the 1966 inaugural Falcon season. There will also be several special events during the game including:

  • At the end of the first quarter Atlanta native and US Open quarter finalist Melanie Oudin will be introduced.
  • During the first half two minute warning Atlanta rock band Collective Soul will be introduced and honored for their recent introduction to the Georgia Music Hall Of Fame.
  • During halftime 20 members of the original 1966 Falcon roster will be introduced.

It will be a game time decision for me, but I’m going to “throwback” either wearing my 1998 Chris Chandler #12 or Chuck Smith #96 (too many margaritas last night .. sorry Chuck!) #90 jersey.

I will be tweeting from my seats like last week. Continue reading past the break to see Game 2’s live tweetgrid.

This Trojan was found disguised as media files on more than half a million computers. Believed to have been planted on file sharing sites like Limewire and eDonkey, users are tricked when trying to play a media file they downloaded.

As explained in the Yahoo news article Fake MP3 Trojan Detected On 27% Of PCs: (more…)

iBand makes music with two fingers… and iPhone from news.yahoo.com by Luc Andre:

“Six fingers and three iPhones are enough to create a band, and Austria’s iBand is living proof, having scored a hit on the Internet by converting the little gadgets into a guitar, a keyboard and a set of drums.

The Viennese trio first gained attention in February on the video-sharing website YouTube with its music video “Life is greater than the Internet.”

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

If you are like me you have an iPod and have downloaded iTunes, but you prefer to manage your music collection through either Windows Media Player or Winamp. The thougt of recreating the wheel in iTunes is not too appealing, Thank goodness the latest versions of Winamp (not sure when it happened extacly) allow you to sync your iPod. That means you can browse to an existing playlist, add it to Winamp and then send it to your iPod. Winamp even creates the playlist on your iPod too!

About

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

My name is Rich Brambley and I am a Senior Infrastructure Consultant with Optimus Solutions (recently acquired by Softchoice). I live and work in Atlanta, GA. I am a father of 2 sons, Zachary and Cooper, and I am second in charge to my wonderful wife Marilee.

This blog is my personal site. For my professional expertise check out my virtualization blog at http://vmetc.com, but on this site you will find anything and everything about my family, my friends, my sports teams, and a lot of personal opinions about desktop technologies, games, music, video and anything else that catches my attention.

Like most professionals in the IT industry, we can’t visit friends or family without eventually being asked to look at a slow PC, to help configure an email client, or recommend a gadget like a camera or mp3 player. So, since I’m doing that all the time anyways I figured I’d start a blog and maybe even get some collaboration from anyone who can help. Fell free to comment and ask questions!

I can be reached at rbrambley[@]gmail[.]com.

Oh, and there is no deep meaning to why this blog is called “treesum”. It’s an abbreviation for the apartments we were living in when I first used DynDns.com to set up my own “go to my pc” solution. Yeah, I am such a geek, I know.
